Privacy Policy

This policy describes the information collected when you use Sheridan County Court Docket, why it is used, and when another party may receive it. By continuing to browse or use a feature, you agree to these practices.

Data You Give Us Directly

Search Queries

A name, case number, or other term entered in a search tool is sent to the outside company that operates that tool. The provider processes the query and supplies its result under its own terms. Sheridan County Court Docket does not keep or record those search terms on its own systems.

Messages and Contact Submissions

When you email us, we retain the message and the contact details needed to respond. We keep the correspondence within our organization unless disclosure is required by a valid legal obligation.

Data We Gather Automatically

Our servers may receive routine technical information when a page loads:

  • Your device's assigned IP address
  • Browser name and version
  • Operating system and device category
  • Pages viewed and time spent on them
  • A referring website, when one exists
  • Date and time information for page views

Cookies and Analytics

Cookies are small files placed on a device. We use them with analytics services to understand aggregate traffic, such as which pages are used most and where visits end. Browser controls can block cookies. Disabling them may change how some site functions behave.

What We Do With This Data

Collected data is used for these operating purposes:

  • Maintaining site availability and page speed
  • Routing a submitted query to the appropriate search partner
  • Measuring which resources visitors use
  • Diagnosing errors and other technical faults
  • Displaying advertising that may reflect visitor interests

No Court-Record Data on File

Sheridan County Court Docket does not host, maintain, sell, or assemble a database of court dockets or personal case records. It provides general directions to the Sheridan County Clerk of the District Court, Sheridan County District Court, Kansas Case Search, and other official custodians. Visitor data is not assembled into a consumer report or a record about another person. Kansas Supreme Court Rules 22 and 123 govern electronic court-record access and protected identifiers, but they do not turn this private reference site into a court-record custodian.

Third-Party Search Partners

Outside companies power search boxes that appear on the site. Information entered in one of those boxes is handled under that provider's privacy policy, retention rules, and sharing practices. We do not control those choices. Review the provider's policy before sending a query.

Links to Other Websites

Links may lead to Sheridan County offices, Kansas court portals, the Clerk of the District Court, legal-aid resources, or outside search services. Once you follow a link, the destination site's privacy terms govern the visit. Check those terms before providing personal information.

Advertising companies may use their own systems to measure activity across websites or select ads. Their tracking does not operate as our court-record database.

Who Might See Your Data

We do not sell personal information. Limited data may be received by:

  • A search provider that processes a query you submit
  • Analytics vendors that measure traffic and performance
  • Advertising networks that serve material on our pages
  • A government body or law-enforcement agency acting under a valid legal demand

How We Protect Your Data

Reasonable and customary safeguards are used for information within our control. No internet service can promise absolute security, however. We work to reduce risk but cannot guarantee that unauthorized access or another breach will never occur.

Users Under 18

The site is intended for adults, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from a person younger than 18. If we learn that a minor supplied such information, we will remove it promptly.

Your Data Rights

Your place of residence may provide privacy or consumer-protection rights. Kansas residents should also understand that the Kansas Open Records Act exemption provisions and Kansas Supreme Court Rules 22 and 123 concern access to government or court records, not a general right to private-site analytics data. Subject to applicable law, you may:

  • Request a copy of personal information we hold about you
  • Ask that inaccurate information be corrected
  • Request deletion of your information
  • Object to or opt out of certain processing

Updates to This Policy

We may revise this policy as practices or legal duties change. A revised policy will be posted here and identified by a new effective date.

Effective date: August 25, 2026
